The Wild West!
This year's Show will be held on Saturday 4th September 2010 in Stone Meadow (near the Village Green, South of Pheasant Hill).
This year's Timetable can be download (as a PDF) from this link
It finally happened.....dawn broke on 5th September 2009 with blue skies and sunshine, a meteorological phenomenon that had not been seen on Show Day for several years. The Show that had been meticulously planned over the previous 12 months was not affected by foot and mouth, blue tongue or a freak monsoon, and what a show it was! The new showground layout proved to be hugely popular, and the Xtreme Trials Motorcycle Display Team also wowed the audience.
This year, we have another winning formula! We hope that the theme of "The Wild West" will lend itself to large entries in the procession and in the Competition Marquees. If the show can't locate to Hollywood, for one day only, Hollywood is coming to the Show in the form of Gérard Naprous and the Devils Horsemen. This truly amazing film stunt team will provide magnificent main arena entertainment in true Wild West style. Look out also for Wild West links at a number of other side stalls and attractions. Old favourites return..... the Beer Tent (with a "Bucking Bronco" Challenge), The Dog Show, Hog Roast and Barbecue, Tea Tent, an increasing range of animals and a host of attractive stalls. New this year...Petwise Zoo and spectacular skateboard demonstrations.
As always, the Horticultural and Art and Craft Marquees remain at the very heart of this Country Show and showcases the highest standards of a host of different talents and horticultural produce. Hours and hours of work have been volunteered in the development of a new system for entering the competitions online, so do visit the account page here not only to enter your classes but also to get the latest information on all aspects of the show.
Our village show really is something very special but it could not happen without crucial input from a wide range of people and organisations. I would like to thank the ever growing list of sponsors and advertisers whose generous support enables the show to develop year on year and thanks also to an incredibly hard-working committee whose enthusiasm and commitment never falters.
Owing to the phenomenal success of last year's show, we are in a position to substantially reduce entry prices this year. Buying tickets in advance from a number of village shops will secure additional discounts.
Meanwhile, it's time to get growing, painting, sewing, knitting, cooking, and taking photos. Sharpen the arrows, polish the spurs, round up the steers, saddle up the horses and take the trail to The Wild West.
ENJOY THE SHOW!
